Diet Nutrition
Diet and nutrition are linked in the modern health mindset, and for good reason. If you are dieting to lose weight you cannot hope to succeed unless you’re also providing your body with the nutrients it needs to be healthy. The caloric intake of your diet is just the beginning of what you need to watch.
In addition to counting calories to make sure you aren’t eating too much food, you have to monitor the nutrients you are taking in to ensure your body is not lacking in the building blocks it needs to burn fat, repair cell damage, and stay healthy. Cutting back on fats will reduce the amount of fat stored by your body. Ingesting enough Iron, B vitamins, zinc, magnesium, and vitamins C & D keeps your body running smoothly.
Long term studies show little difference between low fat, low carb, and low calorie diets in terms of effectiveness. What matters far more to your dietary nutrition is that you stick with the plan you choose. Most diets begin with noticeable gains in the first six weeks and then plateau out to more moderate changes over the long term. What is important is to know going in that your weight change will slow down after the first two months and not be discouraged about it.
