Fitness Nutrition
A healthy diet is a key factor in successfully staying fit. In fact an entire branch of science- fitness nutrition- has developed to study the relations between what we eat and how healthy we are. This branch of science has been responsible for discovering the unhealthy effects of cholesterol and saturated fats. It has also unearthed health benefits associated with iron, the B vitamins, and fiber just to name a few.
Fitness nutrition isn’t just a laboratory science though; it’s useful in your daily life. In fact its intended role is to help you make good choices about the things you eat and the activities you undertake in your leisure time. The food pyramid, daily recommended values, and nutritional information listed on food purchased in the US are all attempts to help you make informed decisions about your nutrition.
Fitness nutrition is a constantly evolving field. Every year, new studies are released that give us new insights into the human body and how it works. We find more effective counters to the rigors of age and disease. Our attitudes towards different foods even change. It was thought at one time that eggs were terrible for you, when in fact eggs are an excellent source of proteins and amino acids that are low in fat compared to other sources. These are just a few examples of why fitness nutrition is so important.
