Nutritional Supplements
Nutritional supplements are also commonly known as dietary supplements. They are consumed in several ways. The most common form is a pill taken one or more times daily. Some supplements, such as fiber, are in powdered form and added to drinks. Others, such as some hormones, are injected.
There are different nutritional supplements recommended based on your gender, age, dietary, and activity levels among other factors. For instance a woman in her mid 50’s would be recommended to increase her intake of calcium, vitamin D, vitamin C, and Zinc. A young man by comparison needs higher levels of folic acid, magnesium, and vitamin E.
And those examples are just from nutritional supplements recommended for general health. Supplements exist to promote weight loss, prevent memory loss, aid muscle growth, lower blood pressure, and create restful sleep. The variety available to you as a consumer can be bewildering but it is important to do your research before committing yourself to a new supplement.
